When Tracy Nunn and her family of four pulled into Crazy Gator Airboat Tours, they weren’t quite sure what to expect. It was their first time on an airboat, and like many of our guests, they were visiting from out of town, looking for things to do near Kissimmee and St. Cloud. With Orlando’s theme parks just 20 minutes away, they decided to break from the usual attractions and book a real Florida experience just off Lake Tohopekaliga (Lake Toho).
Their tour began on a bright, sunny day — perfect for a Scenic Tour. Tracy, her husband, and their two kids (ages 11 and 12) stepped aboard one of our certified airboats and met Captain Mike, a longtime Florida native and alligator expert.
They cruised past floating lily pads and bald cypress trees, soaking in panoramic views of Lake Toho’s 22,700 acres. The kids pointed out birds, and the captain kept everyone laughing — and learning — with real-time nature facts.
Midway through the ride, Captain Mike slowed the boat near a cluster of reeds. Moments later, a large American alligator emerged — swimming calmly alongside the boat from a safe distance.
