There’s something genuinely magical about watching a child’s face when they spot their first wild alligator. Not a plastic one. Not an animatronic one. A real, living, ancient creature just a few feet from the boat, completely unbothered by your presence.

Want to take the experience up a notch? These family-friendly games are perfect for keeping younger kids engaged throughout the tour – and they’ll have everyone on board laughing, competing, and paying close attention to the world around them. Book Your Tour

Throughout the tour, keep a running count together as a family. At the end, whoever guessed closest to the actual number of alligators spotted wins the challenge. Simple, brilliantly effective, and guaranteed to keep every single child laser-focused on the water for the entire ride.

This one works for all ages! Even very young children can shout out “GATOR!” and contribute to the family count.

Download Your Scavenger Hunt Here

What you need: Printed or digital copies of our Lake Toho scavenger hunt, pens (if applicable)
How to play: Before the tour, review the scavenger hunt checklist of things to find on the water – a bird caught mid-flight, a gator sunbathing on the bank, a lily pad, something floating on the surface, a bird’s nest, a turtle poking its head above the water, a fish jumping, the guide pointing out something amazing. Kids check items off as they go, racing to complete their list before the tour ends.

Make it collaborative for younger kids or competitive for older ones – either way, it keeps everyone looking, exploring, and engaged.

Predict the Gator 🎯

What you need: Nothing but instinct
How to play: As the airboat moves into each new section of the lake, everyone has to point to where they think the next alligator will appear. Call your shot before entering the area – left bank, right bank, straight ahead, hidden in the reeds. Whoever points closest to where a gator actually shows up earns a point. The person with the most points at the end of the tour wins bragging rights for the rest of the holiday.

This one gets surprisingly competitive, surprisingly quickly. Don’t say we didn’t warn you.

🌄 Sunset & Night Tour: Glow Eye Count (Evening Tours Only)

What you need: The darkness and a good pair of eyes

One of the most extraordinary experiences on offer at Crazy Gator is the evening and night tour, and it comes with its own exclusive game. As the sun goes down and the lake falls dark, alligators reveal themselves in the most dramatic way possible: their eyes reflect light as vivid, glowing red dots across the surface of the water.

How to play: Your challenge? Count every pair of glowing eyes you can spot. Whoever counts the most by the end of the tour wins the ultimate prize…bragging rights that’ll last the entire trip home.

Genuinely one of the most memorable wildlife experiences available anywhere in Florida. If you have the chance to book an evening tour, do it.

The Memories You’ll Take Home

Theme park memories fade. The queues blur together, the rides merge into one, and within a few weeks it can be hard to remember which park you visited on which day. But wild experiences, real ones, tend to stay with people.

Your child spotting their first wild bald eagle. The collective gasp as a large alligator glides silently past the boat. The guide crouching down to explain why that particular bird stands so still, and your ten-year-old listening with complete, uninterrupted focus. These moments don’t fade in the same way.

A Crazy Gator airboat tour gives families something genuinely valuable: time away from screens, time spent together, and a real connection to the natural world that Florida, beneath all its neon and spectacle, still has in extraordinary abundance.
